Our data centers utilize N+1 redundancy, from our incoming power to our outgoing data streams. This means that, when a system breaks, service is routed around the failed components to a backup without any downtime. We take redundancy to extremes to mitigate even the most unlikely disasters.
If the data center’s power goes out, each of our six diesel generators have enough fuel on-site to run for 48 hours. If our primary diesel supplier can’t make a delivery, that’s okay: we’ve contracted with multiple refueling companies.
Our bandwidth is provided by multiple companies and we have identical networks leaving the data center on opposite sides of the building. If the 12-inch wide network fiber leaving our building to the West was to be severed, our network would automatically reroute all traffic through the pipe on the east side of the building.
It’s through this diligent execution of N+1 redundancy that we’ve maintained 100% uptime for over a decade, and we’d rather not break our streak.
